Fundraising 101

Jewish Penicllin is a great fundraiser for middle school, high school, universities, clubs, and non-for-profit organizations who want to use a unique concept.

  • Jewish Penicillin is one product, one fundraiser, with one mission: "Healing the world, one bowl at a time."
  • Planning session - Set financial goals, fundraising time frame (we recommend four weeks for a fundraiser) and make sure you stick to the set time!
  • Alert community about fundraiser.
  • Promote fundraiser through parent letters, organizational newsletters, posters and community announcements.
  • Hold a "kick-off" rally, which educates the participants on the fundraising programs, and build enthusiasm to reach fundraising goals.
  • Start the fundraiser!
  • Monitor progress and provide encouragement and incentives to keep the participants motivated.
  • Once the fundraiser is complete, collect the order forms and money (if utilizing Jewish Penicillin order form).
  • Tally the results (pre-ordered prevents leftover Jewish Penicillin).
  • Send tally form and payment to Jewish Penicillin.
  • Schedule delivery date with Jewish Penicillin.
  • Set a time and place for participants to meet to pick up their Jewish Penicillin. Have participants distribute Jewish Penicillin in an orderly fashion.
  • Check for any mis-orders and make the necessary arrangements with Jewish Penicillin.
  • Have the participants deliver their Jewish Penicillin that they sold. A personal thank you letter by the participants can't hurt.
  • Enjoy the fruits of your labor and start thinking of ways on improving your next fundraiser.

Fundraising Selling Tips

  1. Set a starting date and closing date for your fundraiser. Four weeks is an ideal time frame. Anything more than four weeks can be counter-productive.
  2. Clearly define the reason and goals for your fundraiser.
  3. Assign volunteers to help run and administer the fundraiser - especially on the day the products arrive.
  4. Have each participant make a list of family and friends who may be interested in supporting your fundraising efforts.
  5. Promotion and word of mouth is key. Spread the word throughout the community.
  6. Keep copies of all order forms for your records or for potential tax implications.
  7. Triple-check all monies and orders before calling in or sending your order to your partner fundraising organization. Trust us, this will save you a big headache if your orders are correct.
  8. Rely on your product fundraising company professional for suggestions and advice.
  9. Keep copies of all forms turned in by volunteers before sending them to the fundraising company.
  10. Keep your participants enthusiastic & have fun!
